If your child has concerns about the position of their teeth or bite, orthodontic treatment may help improve both appearance and long-term dental health. Where suitable, children and adolescents may be able to access many of the same orthodontic treatment options as adults, including fixed braces, clear aligners and removable appliances. Any recommended treatment will be tailored specifically to your child’s individual needs.

As with all orthodontic treatment, our specialists will take the time to understand your child’s needs and aspirations, ensuring they receive the most appropriate treatment.
We assess children from around the age of seven. If treatment isn’t needed, but might be in the future, we’ll arrange reviews to begin treatment at the right time.
Private orthodontic treatment is available on a self-funded basis with no waiting lists. This allows access to a wider range of treatment options.

Not eligible for NHS orthodontic treatment?

If, following an orthodontic assessment, your child is not eligible for NHS orthodontic treatment, there are still ways to access orthodontic care at our Durham practice through Portman Straightforward.
